Fish Hanger From Sweet Pea Embroidery Designs

Do you have an embroidery machine, some batiks, and a Fisher in your life? Well then that’s the perfect place to be to make the Fish Hanger from Sweet Pea Embroidery Designs!

I received the Country Charm Collection from Island Batik, a beautiful assortment of autumn colors, in my second ambassador box. I did the ByAnnie Project Bag with them, with a whole stack to play with left over.

There were several ideas I toyed with, till I was picking up my weekly Festive Christmas Block for Sweet Pea’s current sew-along. I was browsing other categories, when the Fish Hanger popped up. I was the one that was hooked!

I asked my husband as he was walking by if it looked fun. He was also a little paused and said “That’s cool!” So, I had to quickly ask him something else so he’d tune me out and forget about this by Christmas, hah!

Country Charm was the perfect fabric for this project. There were many vibrant oranges and blues that mimic that lake water and shimmering fish. The designs have leafy prints that reminded me of both fish scales and underwater plants.

One more bonus feature is that any of the fish panels can be their own Mug Rug project. How great would it look to make these with an embroidered name in the water?

Keep in mind that you need at least a 5×7 hoop! That’s the smallest design it makes.

You can watch this project get made on my youtube channel Fish Hanger Quilt Video with all the twist and turns along the way. Go figure the first cut I made was in the wrong spot!
