Every person has a story of how Breast Cancer has impacted their lives. It’s important to understand the screening and treatment that’s available in your area. I thought that I was well informed on the process with a cousin recently being diagnosed, but even over the course of a few years, there are more advancements in the medical field.

While I’m just shy of 40, and do not fall in the recommended age to start mammograms, I still go to my yearly physical for my wellness check. While I was at my appointment this year, my doctor had told me about new enhancement to their facilities. She encourage me that if anything doesn’t feel right in my self-exam, to call them. They take it very seriously and see patients within the same day.

The earlier Breast Cancer is detected, the less invasive the treatment.

My aunt passed away in her 30’s from breast cancer. While the grief always linger, there’s is comfort in all this advanced technology, that her daughter has the best chance for a long and healthy life.

The project I selected for this month is A Place for Everything 2.0. It has 2 page inserts that you can customize for whatever your everything is! What’s my everything? Well, One pave has large vinyl and mesh pockets for quilt supplies and patterns. The other page I made lots of smaller pockets to fit all my various teas!

And what a pleasant surprise that I found ByAnnie has a Tea Cozy, Mat, and Coasters pattern set! I made the tea cozy, which fits over the tea pot.

Tea is one of those things that makes me feel like I’m doing something good without doing much at all. Of course, medical recommendations come first, but after that, there’s an herbal tea for any kind of ailment.

Schedule a Mammogram

Despite its limitations, a mammogram is the most effective form of screening. It’s not the most enjoyable appointment you’ll have all year, but in 20 minutes a mammogram can identify cancer several years before any physical symptoms develop.

It’s important to stay positive as you handle your screenings. 1 in 9 mammograms result in a callback for further testing, and 95% of these callbacks do NOT have cancer!
