2024 Island Batik Ambassadorship kick off!

Today I’m thrilled to show all the treats and goods the Island Batik Ambassador program has in store for us for the next 6 months! The 2024 Ambassadors received a shipment with a wonderful blend of the latest collections and stash building fabrics, as well as the tools to make our creations come to life! Let’s dive in!

From the Fall/Winter 2023 Collection, I was sent Local Motion by Maryellen McAuliffe with Mary Mack Made Mine. I immediately popped this one open because I’ll be using in the February blog post!

No peeking here! It’s a surprise for the May blog post! Make sure you’re following along to see what the new fabric line is, and what I create!

This dreamy assortment of half yard cuts from the permanent lines. I recieved:

  • Rhapsody Marvalous Multis (0000843315)
  • Cherio Bermuda Blenders (0000844505)
  • Cobalt Solid Batik (0000844994)
  • Fuchsia Solid Batik (0000845032)
  • Dandelion Crumbs Blender (0000844704)
  • Lagoon Tantalizing Teals (0000839955)
  • Lime Green Solid Batik (0000845148)
  • Orange Solid Batik (0000845080)
  • Wheat Leaves Latte Blenders (0000844701)
  • Large Netting Brownie Blenders (0000844577)
  • Seaweed Tantalizing Teals (0000840099)
  • Dijon Opulent Orange (0000843266)

We also receive larger cuts to support our larger projects as well as neutrals:

  • 4 yards each of Black, White, Grey
  • 2 yards each to coordinate with the Local Motion Collection (Gears – Teal Ravine, 122323999 and Sonic – Yellow Amber, 0000845720)
  • 2 yards Pansy Playful Purple, 0000863888
  • 2 yards Lotus Playful Purple, 0000863890
  • 2 yards Meringue, 0000863887
  • 2 yards Cream, 0000863889

Hobbs Batting is our generous batting sponsor, shipping us various sizes and combinations of their products. In this box was the Tuscany Collection. I fell in love with this batting when I used it in my Disappearing Hourglass Medallion quilt.

Deb Tucker Studio 180 gives each ambassador a tool to make a quilt. Last year I got the Four Patch Square Up which I made the Four Patch Flurry from the Let it Snow Collection by Kathy Engle. This year I get to use the Deb Tucker’s Corner Beam Tool!

There were four precuts in this box. Two were 2.5 inch strips sets, Monarch and Glorious Greens, and then two 10-inch square stackers, Lavandin Collection and the Playful Purples.

Schmetz Needles provides all out needles for piecing, quilting, and we have needles catered to vinyl work as we work on our projects from ByAnnie. They provide us with a hand inforamtion card. Do you ever find a few needles and only have the color bands on the tops to identify them? This card give that answer quickly!

Stash builder rolls are absolutely the most handy pre-cut. They are a set of four coordinating 5-inch strips rolled up and ready to enjoy! I made an entire quilt with these from a fat quarter pattern that converted perfectly to the precut. I also use them to create two 2.5-inch strips and bind small projects. They honestly are the most versatile product out there!

This is my first year working with Funky Friends Factory. Each Ambassador got to pick out a pattern to make. There are so many wonderful options. I had it narrowed down to Sue the Squirrel and Tom Turkey, but I could only pick one! Eventually I picked Tom Turkey which is more beginner friendly for my first stuffed animal creation. Also, I think will partner well with a quilt pattern I have coming out later this year, but I honestly can’t stop thinking about that squirrel too!

Did you catch this one peaking in the background of several photos? Ye! It’s the Oliso TG1600 Pro Plus smartIron in Yellow! This advanced piece of equipement automatically lifts and lowers as you interact with the handle! This has been a huge upgrade in my sewing space. I opened up the box right away and have already enjoyed it for several hours. It has a light the blinks green to let you know it’s on, and a red light to let you know its weighting for you! Gone are my days of checking for hear by touching my iron to the ironing board, then seeing if the board is hot.

Aurifil is also a sponsor this year and will be sending us thread next month. They have had many beautiful curations come out, I’m looking forward to seeing what I get to work with soon!

Make sure you are following Island Batik and the Island Batik Ambassadors to see all the latest fabrics, tools, and projects!
