I knew a perfect home was destined for this striking quilt. When Maui was hit by tragedy, it was clear that the aid support was the calling for this quilt. After the initial shock, the relief resources became overwhelmed with managing and delivering support. I reached out the to Red Cross, but they were not accepting physical donations. The Salvation Army also responded that monetary donations were the best support at that time.

Thankfully, quilters came together to support through their network and community. I was able to send the Speculo quilt to Blue Willow Mercantile in Illinois, who then took the collected quilts and shipped them to the Maui Quilt Shop.
Speculo made it safe and sound, and it’s been encouraging getting the updates of the little bit of comfort we can provide to those in difficult chapters of loss and healing.
