Project List:

  • Pattern: The Witch’s Kitchen by Tiny Modernist. Bought from Fat Quarter Shop. (Affiliate link)
  • Cloth: 35 Count Belfast Linen with raw silver. Stitched 2 over 2 (Affiliate Link)
  • Thread: DMC as called for in pattern.

This was a pattern I instantly loved when I saw it on the Fat Quarter Shop XStitch live. The idea of hanging it in my own kitchen at Halloween time captivated me, and I like how you can tackle this project one shelf at a time to see it come together.

The 35 count cloth was an ambitious leap into cross stitch, being the tightest weave I’ve worked with. With this first section I mastered parking to avoid stitching in crowded areas, and brought out the wax to smooth the threads into place, which will fluff up again when I wash the final project.

This is my lunch hot cross stitch, because I need that full daylight sun to see the weave. It’s been fun to tackle each day, and I’ve found this immensely helps my mind unravel and reset from the morning work stress.
