This project just hits all the marks in cozy color scheme, and lots of fun in the foliage floating throughout, and the funny little friendship between the scarecrow and the crow.

I got all the recommended materials from fat quarter shop which I’m an affiliate. This means I make a small commission at no additional expense to you when you use my links and make a purchase:
- Quilted Scarecrow Printed physical Pattern
- Cloth – Oatmeal 25 Count Lugana Evenweave 18″ x 27″ Vintage Cross Stitch Cloth
Lori Holt for Zweigart #VC18-OATMEAL-25 (link) - Thread Pack & Pumpkin Floss Drops (link)
Off to a rocky start, I began stitching on the wrong side of the cloth. There’s a plain side, and a marbled side (mottled is what the pattern calls it). Luckily I was just 6 strands in, and had a fresh start after a half hour of frogging.

Initially I had started from the center-out, but on my new start I worked first with half stitches in the boundaries of large areas. It’s a safer route to make sure things are lining up, and easy to undo if stitches are off.

This was my focus piece through September, and gain 1500 more stitch in the StitchHauntober challenge, wrapping up on November 1st!
Several leaves are in the wrong place, wrong colors, and wrong shape, but it is done!

The frame is from Amazon till I decide if I want to professional frame it, so it’s longer than it needs to be.

Happy to enjoy this piece for a few more weeks till it time to move over to Christmas! I’ll be doing Jingle Ball with Lindy Stitches this year, and a focus piece of Vintage ABCs of Christmas by Jan Hicks Creates.
