Kaleidoscope Collection Two from The Electric Quilt Company

A new product for paper piecing lovers released on February 12th, 2025. There are 500 blocks to explore in the Kaleidoscope Colllection Two from The Electric Quilt Company!

I was sent this product for free as well as the Quilter’s Newsprint I’ll be showcasing later. The opinions are still my own. This post also contains affiliate links. This means if you choose to make purchase at EQ with my link, I will make a small commission at no added expense to you. Thanks!

As with all EQ products, the installation is simple, and shows up in the block library right away. Make sure to check out their product page for helpful Youtube videos.

Now onto having fun with this new collection! You’ll get a huge variety of styles: traditional twists, improv, stars, compasses, pinwheels, flowers, seasons, log cabins, and more. You can choose from star-point corners or square corners—each produces a different secondary design effect.

You can pick any block, make it any size, and do any layout your heart desires!

  • Pick any Block
  • Make it any size
  • Color it to your preference, or have the randomization tool audition lots of color ideas
  • print off your pieces onto the Electic Quilt Quilter’s Newsprint
  • Sew your block and bring it to life!

Each block is it’s own stunning piece. Feel free to make one block and make it into a pillow, potholder, or wallhanging, or you can make stunning quilts to show off every detail!

The block I choose to make is the K2 Pinwheel 13 Star Corners Block:

The only downside I’ve run into is getting my paper pieces to print. I made a New York Beauty Block a few months ago without an issue, so this is just one of those printer quirks. The error I’m getting is as follows:

E [15/Feb/2025:15:15:13 -0500] [Client 485] Returning IPP client-error-document-format-not-supported for Send-Document (ipp://localhost:631/printers/Brother_HL_L2390DW) from localhost.

Hopefully this resolves before my block is due for show and tell! I’ll keep working through it and will update if and when it works (which is usually just the same attempt, different day, and it magically prints).

UPDATE! Printer issue resolved. Be smarter than me and contact the EQ technical support right away if you have issues! I’m not sure why I thought the printer was just a “me problem.” Even if it was, they have a lot of experience with different softwares and setups!

After talking to EQ, they knew the issue right away! I was instructed to download the FREE updated EQ, which has been available since November 2023. There are detailed step by step instructions in the installation and I was up and printing in minutes! Thanks EQ!!!
