June is a busy month personally. My husband and son have birthdays, family visits, Father’s Day, Fisher Family Reunion, and then summer activities in our town ramp up.

A hidden benefit of being a sew sampler member with Fat Quarter Shop is they release a blank calendar for the next month when they post a sneak peak for the next box.

I put that calendar in Goodnotes on my iPad, and start filling in my plans.

First, the big rocks.

1) Island Batik Ambassadorship – June’s monthly project is a quilt using a Deb Tucker Studio 180 tool.

2) ME Time Delivered Hoop Studio – The June project is a new technique, embroidering on leather to make a passport cover and luggage tag!

3) Fat Eighth Flip Quilt Along – This is a 4 week quilt along I’m hosting for the duration of the month.

Next the medium size goals.

1) Open Gate Quilts Subscription Box – My favorite box! I haven’t been able to prioritize the projects. When is comes to choosing making a table topper, or make more progress on a big quilt, I’ve been working on the large quilts. I’m still collecting the kits, and have been toying with the idea of making a sampler quilt of all the mixes of projects.

2) Sew Sampler Subscription Box – This box has been a home run every month with interesting patterns, new notions, and beautiful fabrics. I’m still on the fence on doing the Block of the Month with it, Peaceful Baskets. It isn’t really sparking joy for me, but maybe if I find the right fabric for it, I’ll go for it.

3) Spooky and Sweet Mystery Sew Along – This is a free sew along by Fat Quarter Shop which releases a block each Tuesday in June. I have 2 fabric pulls ready to go for this. I can’t decide which I love more, and really hope to make both!

Lastly, FYI and on the radar

1) Quilting through Life by Jenny Doan – Preorders opened with a release date of June 4th. I got mine preordered and I’m excited to host a sew-along in July with one of the patterns!

2) Liberty Box Ships by Fat Quarter Shop – This limited edition box ships at the end of the month and I need to budget the time diligently if I want it done by the 4th of July.

3) Island Batik Ambassadorship program is a new box of fabrics, batting, and notions for the last half of the year’s projects! Which means no sewing deadlines to focus on in June, phew!

Then wrapping up with non-calendar specific projects:

– I have an old pattern test quilt on the Longarm. I did several pattern tests in 2021 that only required the top be completed, and they piled up fast. I have 3 tops left to tackle.

Alphabet quilt. My son’s birthday is in June. I embroidered the whole alphabet and it just needs the blocks trimmed, joined, and figure out a border. I’m honestly not loving it since the letters turned out much larger than I thought they would. The embroidery file was called “5-inch” but the results were often 5”x9”. I Think I can order an alphabet panel, quilt it, and he’d love it all the same, and turn the blocks into a fabric book.

Spider Quilt. My old college roommate got her PhD, and I want to make her a quilt with the Accuquilt Spider die and Accuquilt Spider appliqué die. Her field of study is in behavioral sciences researching spiders. I veered off and made the Sparkler quilt with her in mind, but I’ve got a second wind to fulfill the original idea.

Bunny Hill Designs – I have this year’s My Summer House kit, and I found a fat quarter bundle for Patriotic Prairie. I wasn’t to work on both, hand appliquéing the Prairie quilt, and machine appliquéing the My Summer House quilt. There’s entirely no time for this, but it’s a nagging desire.

And that’s it for June! What are you working on? Are you Bobbin with any of my sew alongs?? I’d love to see your progress!
