Who knows quilts better than a batting company? This new subscription box is a newer one to the quilt subscription box game, at a moderate price for $47, which includes shipping. Let’s check out this monthly subscription box: The Quilting Box!

The site says its for all skill levels looking to learn and refine their machine quilting. Each box seems to be uniquely curated to go with a class that is broadcasted in the private facebook group. That’s about all we know going into it, so lets dive into what was delivered for the March box!
The Batting Super Sale in house brand of Stitch in Time Quilt Batting Elegant Blend 80/20 batting in the throw size, 60 x 60 inches worth $30 on sale at their website. I instantly want to stash this and sew my other batting scraps together for the practice session!

Pouncing Pad with Pounce Powder. Worth $16

Two stencils From Full Line Stencil. The 1-inch grid and the Mini-Me Border Stencil, $14 each.

Panel featuring Sue Bonnet images. When I used Google Lens to reverse image search this panel, I only found it on 2 obscure websites. The strong smell and stiffness makes me think this is an old fabric, at least 20 years old when they use to out a lot more preservatives into the fabric. My skin and eyes began to itch handling the material for a few minutes.

Backing Fabric, 60 inches. Very dark, dated green color as well with the same smell and stiffness. It isn’t a pairing ideal for an end project.
The Facebook group and class is part of the subscription. The Facebook group had 44 members when I requested access.
After adding up the contents, the value came out to about $147. The box is worth it for the batting, notions, and class.
My attitude about the fabric isn’t negative when I look at this box as a virtual class kit, and not a sewing project box. When I’ve taken classes in person, it’s been with old fabrics, so these panels are a step up from drawing out boxes and quilting in them (after a pre-wash).
The zoom class is fabulous. I attended till a tornado warning siren went off and had to get my house situated. In the time that attended, there was a very thorough demonstration of filling the pounce pad but I missed out on the stencil tutorial. I’m hoping I can still access the pre-recorded session which is to be posted to the facebook group.
I decided to cancel this box for now. This involves emailing Lyn, the owner directly which she works in batches in her schedule. She is a owner, operator, media specialist–all that hats! I think she does a great job with this box and the value is definitely high.
